Chanhee Lim was born in Daejeon, South Korea in 1985. He studied composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock with Peter Manfred Wolf and at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden with Mark Andre. He is studying at the Hochschule für Musik Basel with Caspar Johannes Walter.
He attended and received master classes and private lessons with Manos Tsangaris, Franz Martin Olbrisch, José M. Sánchez-Verdú, Michael Reudenbach, Clemens Gadenstätter, Unsuk Chin, Pierluigi Billone, Alberto Posadas, Carola Bauckholt, Colin Roche, Chaya Czernowin and Younghi Pagh-Paan. His works are performed in Germany, Austria, Swiss, Russia, France, Spain and South Korea with Trio Sæitenwind, Studio for new music ensemble, trio sostenuto, Ensemble Chambre d’écoute, neophon ensemble, Ensemble Project21AND, NAMES ensemble, snim Vienna, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Ensemble Delirium, Reheard Ensemble, Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Ensemble Intercontemporain among others. He was selected for Call for Scores by Koreanisches Musikfest in Germany, Project21AND Seoul, Sorimok Seoul, Phoenix Satellite Basel, Manifeste Paris, Crossroads Salzburg, snim Vienna, Mixtur Festival Barcelona, Gnesin Contemporary Music Week, Darmstädter Ferienkurse and International Young Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky city, and he awarded Diploma at the International Jurgenson Competition and 1st Prize at the International Competition Donne in Musica and he was composer in residence at Künstlerhaus in Eckernförde.
